Knee high by the Fourth of July

I was in Iowa City over Memorial Day weekend to visit friends & clients. What a beautiful weekend to explore between shoots. Such a sweet city, filled with art, parks, shops, and good eats.

On the way home I stopped in Dubuque and took a little elevator ride on the Fenelon Place Elevator A.K.A 4th Street Elevator - the shortest & steepest railroad in the world- others have claimed that as well, so there's that.

If you find yourself traveling to Iowa, I'd highly recommend the drive towards Madison thru Mineral Point - Hwy 151 so relaxing and endless rolling hills.

The only thing I would have liked to have gone to is the American Gothic house. However it was 2 hours South of where I was at. An author had taken up residence there for 5 years sellling pies out of the house but could not keep up with the demand. She is after all a writer first. A friend and I saw her a few years ago when she was on book tour. Beth Howard.  i'd recommend that book as well. At least i didn't miss out on a homemade pie. :)
