Salvaged Studio

I met Rachael years back thru Local First Milwaukee. I was excited when she reached out to hire me for her head shots. I love that she works with maps ( upcycled)  to create beautiful accessories for yourself and home. These backgrounds at Black Cat Alley match her energy and style.

Last Days of Summer

I've noticed on facebook that friends have called Labor Day weekend - the last days of summer. Officially summer ends September 21st and Autumn begins on the 22nd. But I get it. It's an emotional thing. Kiddos go back to school, no more days of play, no more late nights, or longer weekends, and the days start out a bit cooler and darker. Dang, I love this time of year! I love the crisp mornings. Hot coffee again. The light this time of year is also my favorite. It's gentle unlike summer light. It's partly because I look at light from a photographer's eye, but also I feel better and more energy in this light.

This past weekend, I was at my parent's house hanging with our lil Molly.  I like to challenge myself with my photography of subjects that I see and know well by trying to take different angles, lighting, seeing them in different ways. My parents backyard provides a beautiful backdrop year round.
The field photo is from the Glacial  Drumlin Trail in Waukesha County. I never tire of that view. I hope it stays a corn field for years to come.

Hope you enjoyed your last days of summer! ;)
