Location scouting 101

As some of you may know, half of my Stephanie Bartz Photography business is location scouting. That basically means I search for the right look or location that a director/photographer needs.
I LOVE scouting because 1. I meet all sorts of folks 2. I get a glimpse inside their world - home/business. 3. I get paid to drive around this beautiful state!
It has it's share of stress and long hours, sometimes up to 16 hour days! Plus I scout in rain, bitter cold, snow, hot humid days...come to think of it I'm like the postal service.
Sometimes if it makes sense I scout on my bike (another joy of mine).  Sometimes if I time it just right, good eats too. I have scouted from golf carts, speed boats, ATVs, and monster like trucks! Good times!

A Photo a Day. Days 1-7

Every once in awhile I challenge myself to a photographing an image per day. For me it's the practice of seeing and slowing down. Something no doubt more of us should/could do.

Just want to set the record straight about Molly wearing the  Hanes undies in the first photo. 1. It's not the nor at my parent's house. 2. She had an issue back there and was bothered until a nice groomer took care of it. 3. Not gonna lie, it cracked me to see her walking around with undies on.

Beauty is all around you, you just have to open your eyes to it.

A Year in Words by David Haznaw

I met the incredibly talented writer-producer David Haznaw while working on a TV commercial last year.
We got to talking on set, about personal projects, writers we like, or something close to that,  my brain is a little fuzzy, all I know is we got along well. He told me about his writing project "A Year in Words". In which he has to write every day and put it out into the world. Pretty ambitious. Pretty cool. It's a treat once a day.
Not only is David gifted, he's funny as heck, all around good guy and has a depth I truly appreciate. But don't take my word for it, check out his blog or follow him on facebook.

That's a behind the scenes shot of us working so hard. This is a first time ever that I got to sit while shooting and drink a tasty  iced coffee.

AND a SHOUT out to Anodyne Coffee Roasters- for well be a swell location! https://anodynecoffee.com/
